In the Zelów Commune there are eight sports clubs. The main disciplines are volleyball, table tennis, football, chess and checkers, archery and running.The most important club with a long tradition is Zelów Sports Club "Włókniarz" dealing with football. At present it is taking part in regional championship matches. Its alumni took part in Polish Premier League championships and played for foreign football clubs. Undoubtedly,among the most famous we should list Wiesław Surlit (goalkeeper of Legia FC) and Krzysztof Surlit (representative of Poland, who played in the memorable Widzewa - Juventus Turin match). Both, owing to their achievements have gone down in the history of Polish football. Moreover, there are many youth sports clubs and the numerous cups and medals won by them prove the high level of our sportsmen.
